The Mysterious Island
The Mysterious Island is a dive in the world of atoms of which the atomic force microscope (AFM) draws up a precise topography.
The project is a two-part frieze. The first part, is a delirious laboratory where the eyes follow the machines to gradually switch to another scale: the invisible. It allows us to understand how the microscope work with its tip that probes atoms, slides along their reliefs in order to create a map. The second part shows this topography that is slowly built from the movements of the tip.
Project carried out with Héloïse Krob. In partnership with Julien Bobroff (« Physics Reimagined », University Paris-Sud & CNRS).
